The Boda Boda In Africa

Boda-boda is a term pertaining to the bicycle taxi in East Africa. In English, it can be translated to "border-border". In some areas in Africa, the bicycle taxi is called bodaboda.

Of course, the rickshaw does not have the Volkswagen Passat radiator on its parts but it is also made up of wheels and some piece of wood propelled by a human by means of pushing. And not only in Africa that the boda boda is present. In India, Pakistan, Indonesia and other Asian countries, this vehicle is also present. They call it rickshaw.

The Boda-Boda is parts of the bicycle history in Africa. The operation of Boda-boda in Africa started in the 1960s and until now, they still using the ancient vehicle. These vehicles are still present in the Kenyan - Ugandan border to other regions where it all originated. The vehicle was made because of the "no-man's-land" between the border posts without the paperwork involved with using motor vehicles crossing the international border as the Wikipedia informed.

You will also see the boda-boda on the southern border crossing town of Busia (Uganda) and you will noticed rickshaw drivers are shouting "Boda-boda!" The route extends to the northern border town of Malaba (Kenya). The call is an invite to potential customers to ride the boda-boda. Just like a PUV in the Philippines. They call it the jeepney.
